I voted for "Because they want to keep her for themselves"
As they stated early in the anime series *don't know about the manga* she is
"their toy", and that game, as I feel it started like, developed into
the twins being really close to Haruhi *adding to this the fact that they are
all in the same class* and getting to know her good enough to be able to find
that little something that makes her so special.
Another thing, is how the twins *early in the series too* feel their
"world" invaded by her *she's THAT special*. If we see this, Haruhi
ends up being the only friend to get so deep into their world, and so I strongly
got the base to think that this new experience -having someone knowing their
world- makes their curiosity bloom greatly, and make them feel that they *both*
need to monopolize her.
Bothering Tamaki *jiji*, that could have been my choice if this question was
made to me before I get to episode 10 or so, now it certainly seems like an
extra effect of the twins picking on Haruhi and not the absolute reason of why
they do.
Up to this point, is hard to tell if either of the twins *or both* have
developed that great deep feelings for Haruhi. Hikaru's actions in ep 16 give us
big clues, but then again, his kind of
uncontrolled behavior is tricking. It could be the case that this
curiosity oh Hikaru's is evolving into something closer to actual love towards
Haruhi, but then again I don't feel he *neither Kaoru* is at that point yet
*Tamaki is closer to it, if not there already*

Yes, he's way too st"oo"pid at times, but that makes him completely
adoreable. I like how he is all so caring about the people around him. I'm awed
too at how he is so sweet with the ladies, and how he seems to really mean it,
he's a complete GENTLEMEN.
And I gotta say, this is the first time I've "fallen" for a blue-eyed
blonde! You see, TAMAKI is THAT special! no doubt the BEST HOST for
me° ^_^

Well, what can I say! THIS SERIES IS GREAT!
Apart from the artwork *You Higuri-sensei is so GREAT*, the superb opening theme
*still sounding in my head* the fact that it is full of BIshounen is just
PERFECT
I started watching it like a week ago, and finished watching the 13 subbed eps
yesterday! *all released by aarinfantasy sub group*
I don't really care there was no actual SEX in the anime series, thank God
there's the Videogames! Though, there really should be kind of another anime
season! there's so many pairings there to insight! though, KazukiXKeita is my
absolute favorite
